Planning for the “Worst”
Ever since I decided to live an enlightened, judge-free life {I’ll get to this post-wedding}, I try to remind myself that things aren’t so bad. Take last Thursday night for example.
MB and I were finally at home together. No one had class, a dinner date, or 48 errands to run. I cooked a nice easy dinner and we sat down to fight over the remotewatch some TV. And then the power flicked off. BOO! We both yelped! We finished our dinner chatting with one another and then I bounded into the office and forced MB to help me pack. As it got darker we traded our packing for some plans for ice cream and I started to get tired and whiny. Wait! I told MB and myself, it’s not that bad! Some people go DAYS without electricity. He agreed and not throwing a monster tantrum was a huge accomplishment.
So, what? Right?
The so, what here is that when you are planning a wedding, in gross detail the way I am, you can’t help but assume that something will go wrong. And the assumption then turns to horror that it will ruin everything. Well, my new outlook has lead me to think over all the worst-case scenarios, talk myself off the ledge about them now and let them go. Once I wake up on 8/22/09 almost everything will be out of my control and in the trusted hands of my DOC and other vendors. And I feel good. About everything.
Except one thing. Yep, you guessed it. The weather.
Most of this is spurred by DC and NOVA being involved in Monsoon season this spring. Save for a few unseasonably warm weekends, we have been drenched. I’ve tried not to complain because I do hail from Pittsburgh, touted the rainiest city {yes beating Seattle} and being overcast 40% of the year.
But WAIT — THAT’S WHERE I’M GETTING MARRIED.
I actually talked with Little C about it this morning, and talking it through it made me a little less crazy. OK, so it rains, whatever. I have adorable wellies. And then I read this post at Wedding Bee Pro. OMG, rain can = sexy pictures! And then I got to thinking — what a marvelous excuse to get another cute accessory!!

So the new me, says when Pittsburgh hands you typical weather — demand the credit card from your fiance and buy a new umbrella. Can you find any cute ones for us or my maids to snuggle under for some walking to and from the venues?
