How Sweet It Is: Get Me to the Church
Please immediately credit any and all photography to John + Kimberly Sanderson unless otherwise noted. Do not repost these pictures for any reason without my express permission. It’s not nice. And you’re nice people. Clearly.
Almost as soon as that last photo was snapped of MB and I, I felt like a light went off in my head. Grab our friends! I shrieked excitedly. We need to get to the CHURCH! So we met on the back patio where our photos had begun and I gave the party a pre wedding pep talk. The maids lined up very responsively, which resulted in some of my favo maid pictures.
Yum! Vera and bows!
About the time I was barking out orders, I started to recognize people outside of our bridal party. That had seemingly showed up for our wedding! AMAZING! One group I was particularly excited to see was Eric’s BM KNooN, Steve, and Mr. Tiny Big. They were all wearing dark suits, sunglasses and trying to avoid me like the plague. KNooN also convicned Steve and Mr. TB to flank him as they walked past me — it looked like the Boondock Saints. They refused to hug me. But they did wave.
Erstwhile the boys were ignoring me and slapping MB on the back, assuring him it would all be over soon. OK — everyone ready?! Let’s move!
Again, I was in a big hurry to get nowhere. But I was so excited. Don’t our friends look amazing?
Finally, we’d arrived.
Everyone had their instructions. MB — you wait back here and seat your mother. Boys and girls you come with me. Mr. Best Man make sure MB doesn’t make a break for it!
As I was about to peel off and head downstairs to our holding chamber, my Uncle John tried to stop me to tell me something very important. In my prewedding haze, this detail was pretty fuzzy. Later I was told that in chatting up everyone pre wedding Uncle John had discovered, through his geneological obsession, that MB and I were distant cousins and that right as I was about to enter the chapel to get married was the time to divulge this. I’m secretly kind of glad someone headed him off.
Anyhoodles, we all made it downstairs. And….we waited. We put the time in with more group pictures.
Tightening up bows.
Chatting with Big Paul.
Looking really excited.
And hugs and smiles. Lots of hugs and smiles.
After this last picture, I started to feel overwhelmed and really hot, so MOH followed me into the little bridal powder room for a breather. While we were in there Annita came down to round everyone up. It was go time. I gave myself a last glance and MOH one last big huge hug.
And I’m sure I said something ridiculous and we laughed. And that is what I remember from the day. Lots of laughter and love.
Up the stairs we went. For the big event of the best day of my life.
What did you do right before your ceremony started? I hope you laughed and had as much fun as we did.
